This in turn creates improved plant nutrient uptake and affords an opportunity to maximize yields.
What makes it easier for plants to obtain nutrients?
A healthy and active rhizosphere. There are a couple of strains of heterotrophic bacteria and fungi that are known to have the ability to solubilize currently unavailable phosphate to facilitate and grow phosphorus.
Bacterial Strains:
- Pseudomonas Striata
- Bacillus Polymyxa
- Enterobacter
Fungal Strains
- Aspergillus Awamori
- Penicillium Digitatum
These microbes have been identified as ‘Phosphate Solubilizing Microbes’ or PSMs. They live in the rhizosphere and secrete/release low molecular organic and inorganic acids which chelate the cations bound to phosphate and thereby convert these nutrients into soluble forms that plants can then easily take up.
